DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE Established : July 1997 Research & Development Activities : The department was established to extend to the region the facilities for education in computer science. It was felt that the advanced areas such as computer and computer related applications would demand an advanced level of excellence from the students of the department to enable them to meet the emerging trends in the field. It is one of the major areas of commitment for the University and there are plans to upgrade the department with qualified staff, advanced laboratory facilities including building, and related supporting requirements. The department also proposes to participate in hardware and software orientation programmes together with related departments to enable the students to be able to handle different aspects of computing.
