Computer Centre

Established : June 1998 Development and Background of the Centre : The centre was specifically planned and set-up to cater to the growing need to bridge the gap of technical advances and developments in different subjects and aspirations of the students and teachers. It was felt that there was a need for a central facility that could be accessed by all which could in turn provide the necessary impetus to the development of a powerful computer culture within the university. The computer centre is now functional and is catering to the needs of twenty-four academic departments as well as other administrative staff of the University. The centre is also developing necessary software for complete computerisation of the University accounts and administrative system in an integrated manner and is also involved in rendering assistance on need basis to all departments of the University. In view of the fast developments in the field of computers and information technology (IT), the centre proposes to impart training in IT to the academic community of the University. It was strongly felt that in the new millennium the rapid developments would occur in the field of computers and related information technology. Hence, to equip the students of the University to meet the challenges of the modern technological developments, computer related compulsory paper has been incorporated in the course curriculum of different postgraduate courses.   Activities of the Centre:   The centre regularly conducts theory and practical training programme for the students of different departments.   Provides services in computerisation to the University library, University administration, Finance department etc.   Conducts computer awareness courses for the non-teaching staff, as well as for teaching faculty of the University.   It is involved in the planning and implementation of the various short-term and long-term courses proposed by the University.   It is involved in planning and evaluation of the proposed Campus Network and its various administrative and technical aspects.
